Practice races commence at 12:00hrs tomorrow (3 back to back). I think I would have perfected my mistakes after 3 races!! However, I'll probably be the only F16 on the water. The weather for the event itself looks more promising as time goes on ranging from 15-17mph on Friday to 8-10mph by Sunday. If the weather stays as predicted we would have a very, very good event (I don't like it too windy due to my habit of falling over). I hope to keep everyone up to date with proceedings on the F16 forum but this will be totally dependent on Beer consumption. For those travelling have a safe journey and try to avoid the M4 from the Newport to Cardiff during the evening rush hour.

We spend a couple of hours with Wayne droping masts and double stacking my boat on top of his. Paul came by to pickup his Blade as well. So at least three from Datchet are on the way.

I'm going to leave London at rush hour, what route should I take? I was thinking M4 all the way as I don't care too much about traffic jams with the bike...

The MYC is an easy place to get to. Take the M4 to junction 42, once off the slip road and on the dual carriage way to Swansea DO NOT TURN OFF, the road literally follows the coast through Swansea to Mumbles. The Club House is the very last Building on the right prior to going around the Headland (It's 13 miles from the M4 to the Clubhouse)

Watch out for Speed cameras once you are travelling round the bay to Mumbles.

Well UK guys and Gals, you missed a great Mumbles weekend of 9 races in 8 - 20 knots of warm steady sea breeze. Good close racing with 3 skippers tied on 2 wins each at the end of the second day and a social side to drain the last remnants of energy.

Final count of only 5 boats, all single handers, was a little disappointing but there was still was plenty of close racing ( often all 5 boats would be contesting the first mark ) and with the added cats from the Mumbles club having there own handicap racing, plenty of boats to race.

Winner then was Mark P ( who raced away on the final day taking all 3 races ) a close 2nd was John Terry, Paul Warren, Wayne Richards and Eric Noyou ( who had a number of technical problems ) 5th.

Lots of funny moments, lots of not so funny "damn I'm leading but not any more" and some very enjoyable sailing at what is becoming the in place to go in Britain for sailing. A great club atmosphere and good facilities at reasonable cost.

Work beacons so I'm sure others will add. cool

I was there. I was rubbish.

It was my first time in South Wales, I enjoyed the racing and the wind as well as the quick little tour of the Gower peninsula I was able to sneak in. Thanks to Wayne to dragging my boat all the way to Wales and to Mark and the Mumbles Yacht Club for the welcome.

I'll do better next time, I fully intend to give the dreaded wooden spoon away smile
