Check with Phil's Foils...he makes custom blades and has done Farrier blades.

Is that for the blade only or for the whole thing? (blade, cassete, tilt up system, gudgeons, pintles, tiller, extension)

If it's just the blade, he can have mine, foils included...

Think you will find that Corsair have moved out of Chula Vista a while back!

For the same money, Farrier will do a top spec one; http://www.f-boatmart.com/product.php?productid=16173&cat=253&page=1

Well that gives me some perspective - I've been looking at options for replacing my F-27 rudder. I hadn't called Corsair yet, but the Phils Foils estimate was $2422.00/

I've heard that is a common problem with the Corsairs, is the rudder hung from the main hull?

I am going to have a very unique rudder system on the TMS-20. Parts of the design I still have to work out. First the dagger board and rudder are going to be in the ama. Living in South Florida and the sailing in the Islands I need to have the ability to have retractable or kick-up rudders. The main hull will not have any rudders or boards hanging from it. The rudders will be in the keel not transom hung.

The design will be classic rudder and post except the shallow water option they will be mounted in a cassette that is part if the ama stern. The cassette will have the ability to pivot up as a section of the hull, no cavitations, or loss of efficiency, and the benefit of being mounted with a center stainless tube section. Because of the location and the angle of the hull they will be at an effective angle to the water and be smaller.

Unless I punk out at the last minute and hang them from transom to speed the process up to get the boat to the water.

Jim Bauman at jim@recreationalcomposites.com has a mold ready to go. He built the foils for Buzzelli's and Mark Murray's cruising catamaran a few years ago.

Since the 28R is no longer in production and few are currently racing around the country the rudder should be okay for cruising or PHRF racing.

You could probably get the entire transom - hung set up for less than $3,500.

Another choice would be Ian's new system for the F 22 - then there is shipping from down under.

Good fortune with your quest!

I just left Jim's shop. He has a viet nam rudder that is brand new. The rudder needs re - fairing (flat on one side).

Contact Don Wigston at Info@windcraft.net for a price. Jim wants to fix it and get it out of his way.

When did Corsair discontinue the 28R? And what did they replace it with in that size range? Anything?

Thanks for the link, I see they do still make the 28R...just added the letter -S- to it. That's good because when I win the Lottery, I'm getting one!

Yea Vahn's problem is staying class legal. There is a big 28R fleet in the Houston area. OH and it broke at the casing. Clean break all the way across and just floated off LOL

The 28 R is no longer in production.

The version offered features an aft cabin, similar to the F 27. Builders are focusing on the cruising market in order to remain alive. Not even the new F 22 is available in the open **** version unless you want to build it.

Think center **** and picture a traveler track across the aft cabin.

The Sprint 750 is Corsair's new racing boat.

Aloha - B

Corsair 28RS Aft **** Sport Cruiser
The Corsair 28RS, like all of its predecessors & current sisters, is an easily trailerable sport boat because of its lightweight & low profile on the trailer. As with other Corsair trimarans, the transition from trailering to sailing takes about 30 minutes. The mast is raised or lowered using the installed winch on the trailer as with all Corsairs. Everything about the Corsair 28RS is designed to get you on the water & across the water quickly, comfortably & affordably. With a well-planned main cabin, the Corsair 28RS allows for family cruising even without the aft cabin; the V-berth is ideal for one or two children & can certainly accommodate two adults, & the settee area converts to two singles, or an expansion of the V-berth. Moreover, the reduction in weight & expansion of **** that results from eliminating the aft cabin makes this Corsair a bit faster & great for warm climates where less cabin space is required.

So what's this? I just scrolled down on the link you provided and it was there. Pictures too.

Corsair does produce an open **** version - thanks for the fine reading; however, the Class Rules are probably not in the manual. That means Trey Ritter and the US Multihull Association Rating Committee will have to go to work if any of the new versions arrive at yacht clubs in this country. In fact this stands true for Corsair's new designs such as the Dash 750. It's Hobie and NACRA all over again, except, these boats are expensive.
