I went to the Club to see the boat. It is pretty, as you would expect any new boat to be.
Impressions:
Is it designed for us older guys? It has a spash rail so we do not get too much water in our face, presumably to make sure we can still see out of our sunglasses. There is also some rubber on the deck where you sit or stand. Is that to make it a bit easier on the tush? Do not get me wrong, I like it!
Bow looks very much like a Capricorn but gets flatter on the bottom a bit quicker. For planing?
In the pictures I studied I thought the back was fatter and harder chined than the Cap. It is actually about the same width. The chines are a bit sharper but not too much.
Trampoline is set up very similar to the newer Tigers. I actually like the floating trampoline they put on them. Many have argued against it I know, but I like it. Crossbars I believe are the same as the Tigers which is good as they are big for more stiffness.
The mast is very different. Very like the Capricorn and Infusion Wing sections.
Daggerboards are very narrow. I only saw the well in the hull for them and could not believe it was for a Formula 18. They really look about the size the A-Cats (A3) are using these days. With a F18 Class limitation on the depth they will be way less square footage (or inch/MM) keeping you from going sideways if you are stopped. On the other hand imagine how much less drag when up to speed!
I will see the boat completely rigged sometime this weekend and will try to report more on my findings. Hopefully I will find some time to sail against them while the new owners are on their new toys. I like new toys, even if they are not mine. Unfortunately I have a tradeshow, in Long Beach, this weekend and will only get out late.
I heard that there is one red and one smoke sail staying in CA. More boats, more people sailing, more interest in the class because of it? All good.
Probably just liquid hydrogenized vegetable fats, also known as margarine. Not even insects touch that stuff so why we eat it is beyond me. It probably works well for greasing daggerboards
Ref: http://www.pam4you.com/pages/products/original/index.jsp Notice how it say 100% natural, but dont contain anything of nutritional value, and no list of ingredients is available. It is probably natural, but no more healthy than the turkey you forget in the oven before you went sailing so you created a lump of carbon. Still natural, but not good for you. Sorry, I am off on a tanget again. I hate "foods" like that, that is why..
Well it must be an Australian thing - Greg Goodall taught me that trick and whatever it's made from, it works great on dagger boards...though, strangely, David Strickland has been following my boat around lately while muttering "nom nom nom".

But, there isn't a rule limiting the depth. There is only a rule limiting weight.
The boards should have less drag because of a reduction in induced drag not because of a reduction of surface area. Induced drag is caused by tip effects. By making the board taller with a shorted chord reduces the amount of induced drag.

My mistake, there is nothing about how long they can be. I was thinking that to stay in a box (for box rule) there should have been something about it, I was wrong.
I was considering the cord as the drag coefficient and said surface area, sorry. The cord on these things is very small.
can you check if the ants will eat it? Canola oil and soy is something ants should eat, but it is all about how it is processed before it is put on the box.
Control question: Is there a expiry date on the box in the near future?

WAIT a minute... you can cook turkey into a lump of carbon?
from the bottom of the can "bestby060210" I have had a real problem with ants this summer, which is what made me think of it. I have used the silicon spray with great results, not Sailkote, but a cheap aerosol can of silicon spray you buy at WallyWorld for a couple of bucks. I just sprayed some Pam out on the driveway. I'll give it a few minutes and let you know if the ants like it.
You have to love the way we count calories in the USA. PAM cooking spray, it's Canola Oil+, and yet the label list 0 caleries from fat, of course a serving size is 1/3 of a second. If you go over that they have to list more than 0 cal.
The PAM probably does the same thing as a silicone type spray would do --- over time though I suppose the PAM is going to be better for the 'environment'?!?! I am happy with that logic anyway!

i seem to remember on this forum musing that they looked a little too delicate for the job and getting jumped upon by wildcat boosters as having nothing to back that up with so should STFU
