I'm in for Tybee... NO WAY I can do the Worrell on this short notice.
Can everyone that might participate voice their opinion on which they will do.

I would jump on a Worrell campaign in a heartbeat. I'm not going to put my own together. Been through that with the Tybee and not going to go through it again. So if anyone out there is considering a Worrell and looking for a partner, PM me!

Looks like a scam considering no one has heard about this to date. Plus a lot of sailors would not touch anything Mike Worrell would have a hand in. I guess he is counting on those guys retiring and not paying attention.

Also two tough races using the same real estate in the same month makes absolutely no sense. Mike contact Chuck and try to work something out with him.

It's for real and several of the old W1000 teams were contacted a couple of months ago.

It's not coming in completely cold. Word has been making rounds within the current distance racing crowd. This is the first real public information about the Worrell to date.

Velocity has decided

We're doing Tybee.

We just heard about too many things that hadn't happened with regards to the W1k and the time constraints. I'm not willing to burn 2/3rds of my annual PTO on a single race.

Bill,

I guess you missed the part where the entry is free. Mike did meet with most of the teams that had entered and paid the entry fee in the race that did not happen so most of us new this was coming. If you want to know more you might call Mike Worrell and ask him about it.

Dave,
That $5k was a joke, and I didnt realize that Mike had met with teams from last time. Did everyone get their money back? Did Bimare ever recover their money from the boats. Did the lawsuits all get settled? Or did everyone just drop it?

I'm having a hard time believing that everyone that lost entry fees, and bought Bimare F18HT and sold them at a loss is back on board with backing another Worrell 1000.

Bill

Dave,
No disrespect to you, but I'm not going to call Mike, and I doubt that everyone was made whole. Maybe the entry fees got paid back, but I know a long list of people that had to dump their HT's for a loss and they arent going to made whole. And never mind that this was a pivotal point for the HT class which disintergrated right after the last fiasco. And I'm pretty sure Bimare wrote off the $180k for the boats.

Are you interested in doing the race?
If you had a vested interest in 2003 ,your questions would be answered. Otherwise like David said, Call Mike.

If you knew more, you might also realize that Mike catches all the hell but he wasn't the only bad guy. He made mistakes, but someone else should be catching a lot of it.
