Are they painted? After mauling the leading edge on a brand new board at Tradewinds, I dropped it off at a local boat builder to be repaired. In an email he said he had never seen gelcoat that thin, but didn't explain anything else.

I don't think they are painted.

The gel coat is probably that thin.

I've done the same thing and just used some stuff on it to fix it. I can't remember the name of it though. frown I fixed it at somebody else's house who had the stuff.

It seems to be a trend of shooting very thin gel coat on carbon daggers. Same holds true on the Falcon issued daggers. It is not as important as covering the glass on the hulls.

The "Stuff" was quite likely Marine-Tex.

It is my go to stuff for repairing rudder and daggerboard dings. It is a 2 part type epoxy putty that dries white. The putty makes it nice to work with and it is very sandable.

Thanks for supporting the USF16! I'm hoping for a great time in Gulfport! We had a taste of FL weather this weekend in Maryland but it was too good to last frown

See you at the USF16 Nationals!

Heading out next Saturday! Can't frickin' wait to get the hell outta here again. We're still at least a month away from getting on the water in MN. As of a couple of days ago the lakes haven't even opened up yet.

I'm praying for 6-8 knots. Will sacrifice a lamb this evening.
