i get the feeling that the I17 is done. there are only a few registered for the nationals in Wi which is the backyard of most 17s.

I'd welcome the N500 in the F16 fleet. Probably wouldn't be competitive but I think there is a spot for a less expensive, simplified boat.

Having said that, it shouldn't be competitive but a H16 with spin shocked a lot of folks out on the West coast this weekend. When you get the right nut on the tiller, you just never know.

But if you are not selling very many of these and there is a bigger emerging market, then doesn't it make economic sense to bin the non sellors and create a new product which people maybe interested in.

To sit on the fence and wait until a major competitor has established themselves as the market leader is commercial suicide. Hobie or Nacra would probably be better at this stage to buy the production rights of the Falcon, instant boat in the market at the right time coupled with the brand name = winner

My concern is the promotion of the F16 class. Builders can do whatever they want.

I sailed against a N 5.0 a couple of times and thought it was a nice boat. If they are compliant they'd be welcome, imo.
