Sweet stuff! Great vedio. Squash and I are planning on being there!

We are trying to justify the cost of mohome gas vs van gas/hotel cost. Any insight. Which is a better move at this place camp or motel?

Thanks

There is camping at the club (I think $25 a night for two people), and a van is considered a car, while an RV is charged by the foot on the Ferry.
Also there are a lot of B&B on the island and homes available. Ours used to be, but we moved into the house.
Chamber of Commerce has a good list to choose from.
You can go to my PIB website where down toward the bottom I have a ton of links for all sorts of stuff:

Does the 50 bucks include a social fee for the skipper?

I think so Mimi...That's all we paid last year and it included socials.

Hmmm....I just looked at the registration page and it does look like it is extra. I hope Rick has an answer. I wouldn't pay that until we are sure,

I think that may be more for the big boats, besides we have a lot of our own stuff going on, like the food/booze party at Steve Abbey's Yacht and Barge Patio, Wine and Cheese party at Borman's, etc.

At little heads up, pre-registration would have been greatly appreciated. I am registered, plus what I think is a social for Dave.

I believe you are bringing an RV. Is that correct? If so, I need the size and how many people so the club manager can plan on it.
thanks
Rick

The price for camping at the club is the same for RV's as for vans or tents. RV's have to be self-contained -- no hookups for them. If you are coming in an RV, send Rick an e-mail, rick@catsailor.com, to tell him size and number of people, so we can help the club coordinate camper parking.

I just checked with the I-LYA organizer, and he said the social events are NOT included in the regatta registration fee this year. Each individual sailor has the option of buying a social package ($30 a person) if they want to partake of food and libations at the events.
They decided to cover the cost of the social events this way, by making it optional, instead of increasing registration fees across the board.

However, as Rick said, for the Wave sailors there are enough social activities of our own, so we don't need to get the social package. PLUS, it doesn't keep us from going to any of the events, just no beer or rum. Maybe bring your own? Don't tell anybody I said that. LOL

Hey Mary,

Thanks for the scoop, extremely helpful!!!

<<They decided to cover the cost of the social events this way, by making it optional, instead of increasing registration fees across the board>>

This is a great idea; people like choices, especially frugal sailors. I'm thinkin I can get my moneys worth at 10 bucks a day, especially when there is beer involved:>

I'll email Rick with mohome info right now.

Looking for to seeing you soon.

Mimi

Here are the trophy flags for the Middle Bass Challenge.

There is one for first to finish and one for the winner in each class.

Hey Gang,

Is it short course racing for 3 days? Or is there a distance race involved? Will the courses always be ABCAC?

If you could tell a newbie one thing about the event that you wish you knew before you went what would it be?

Thanks for any input,
Mimi

The regatta is buoy racing. There is a feeder race to the island on Thursday morning, but not recommended for Waves (it is 21-miles and can make for a long day in light air)
And Jack Woehrle is putting on a fun short-distance race Monday after the NAs, sailing around Middle Bass Island, and if windy, also around North Bass Island, followed by Ribs on the beach.
The buoy races will be triangle, Windward, Leeward and then an upwind finish. Length will less than a mile

For abaout the last 6 or 7 years, we have had between 8-12 mph winds. But, we do have Lake Erie Chop.

Dave and Leah actually switched boats. Dave messed Leahs up in the practice races. Boats were scored correct, drivers changed. So glad that you made the trip "AppleJack". I had so much fun hanging out with you and Sqaush.

Hey Gang,

Just realized that I never got a chance to say "nice race" to Leah, Ray and a bunch of others. What a wild weekend! Thanks to all.
