2 Questions.


1. How far behind the rear beam do people attach the top block of the mainsheet and does a little or a lot make much difference?

2. What's the best material to line the boat cradles on beach wheels with? Ive clearly used the wrong sort of carpet Couldn't have got less friction if I'd used dry ice!

2) I assume you have some home-made beachtrolley? I've used thick vinyl (3-4 mm). The hulls won't damage and won't easily slide, it's ok to get wet (and dry pretty quickly) when pushing the cat into the water, and very cheap if you only buy 1 meter or so.

Go to a camping type store e.g Rays and get a pack of the evo foam squares, theres usually 4 in a pack. Its soft, gentle of the hull and anything that shouldn't be on there like sand or little rocks you can easily brush off with hand. I used it on my wheels, my trailer and even have a couple of 100mm strips on top of sawhorses when i'm working on the boat, cost about $20 - $25 for the pack and squares are about 600mm x 600mm x 13mm thick, cut it with a stanley knife or scissors

Top main sheet block should attach to the boom so that when the boom is over the end of the traveller track the rope is vertical. If my memory services me correctly it is a couple of hundred mm’s behind the track when sheeted on hard. The thinking for positioning the block behind the travller this to put some forward force on the boom to help rotate the mast when sheeted on.

They had foam on them when I purchased them but it was never particularly good. I'll try the evo.
