Posts: 1,066 Wellington, FL-Singer Island, ... | Looking like a great weekend! WEATHER FORCAST: Saturday: Hi 81°/Lo 59° 0% chance of rain. Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. A light chop on the intracoastal waters. Sunday: Hi 81°/Lo 61°. 0% chance of rain. Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. A moderate chop on the intracoastal waters. NEED CREW:FIT sailing club is planning to enter a Hobie 18 and Hobie 16 in the Hiram’s Haul pending approval of their faculty advisor. A number of the FIT sailors have been training for month on their 420’s and Fj’s, typical collegiate dinghy, and have been volunteering themselves to crew of any catamaran driver willing to work with them. A couple of them have previous catamaran experience in other countries such as Belgium, Spain, Puerto Rico, and Brazil. Tomorrow looks great with an upwind run with a bit more wind. That is, of course, if we can survive tonight's party! Maybe bring a GPS next time? That might help us nearsighted, overweight middle-agers find the finish easier. Put this on your list of "must do" for 2011

When I'm off, it's either raining or no wind at all. You all owe me beer!

Posts: 5,590 Naples, FL | That would be team "FRANK-N-STANK" not BMW on a cat... Outstanding conditions (thanks Timbo). Turned out to be a nice fast reach on day 2 *up until the final causeway*. Lots of action for positions 3-9 in the lineup (the Rock Stars JC and Brett were off like rockets). Best part of day 2: Watching a slow pirouette by Gina around the forestay when Matt hit the bottom (full boards while skirting the east side), pulling the boat into a perfect "endo" flip. After they recovered, Matt was "Man on Fire" and clawed his way back to the front of the second pack. We touched bottom once but not hard enough to send me around the forestay... Other than that incident Frank put us pretty much where we needed to be to slowly climb up the ranks. Rick and Terri were a well oiled reaching machine, well out in front of us until the wind backed at the last causeway (Pineda?) forcing them to the left side where they had to start tacking back. I don't care what you say about N20's outdated sailplan... that thing still turns out the fun, especially for us older, fatter (some say "wiser") dudes. I think our team topped out over 400 lbs. and we were minutes late at both starts.... Congrats to JC and Brett for doing the horizon jobs on us, but I think the rest of the boats all finished very close to each other. The non-spin boats got an earlier start, which was a good idea to keep the fleets together.
