Every once in a while you come across something or someone that deserves to be recognized for their work and in this case I want to tell you folks about Jesus Morales of J.M Boat Repair.

Normally I do this work myself; however, time and a place to do the work was not in my favor so I decided to “farm out this part of the re-build project. Jesus came recommended to me form some of the guys at the Mission Bay Yacht Club as the person they use for repairs and detailing their boats. He had worked for Performance Catamaran for a number of years and really knows what he is doing with fiberglass and gel-coat repair. I had contacted him, dropped my boat and picked it up yesterday. When I arrived to pick it up it was hard to believe I was looking at the boat I had dropped off to him a week earlier. I had only asked him to fix a few dings and buff hulls out to get rid of the sticker shine but he went a lot further than that with fairing the hulls, putting new gaskets in the centerboard trunks, and a bunch of other little things that shows he takes pride in his work.

If you want to contact Jesus (Hay-Zus) his cell is 714-905-6057. He lives in Santa Ana and he is willing to travel to you.

Oh! And he is reasonably priced!

I wish I had taken some more before pics, but for reference here is a before, during, and after:

Before:

Ding in hull

[Linked Image]

Look close and you can see a crease that starts right at about the E and goes all the way to the transom (caused by a fence post – so I was told)

[Linked Image]

During:

Bottom getting faired with all the little dents and dings getting filled

[Linked Image]

Close up

[Linked Image]

And the finished product:

Here is where the ding was in the first pic

[Linked Image]

The starboard hull

Looks like great workmanship. I didn't realize you bought Marks old boat. It good to see it going to get wet as I don't think he had sailed it in a few years.

I think he was moonlighting with it in a few smash up derby expos. I've never seen ANY catamaran that f'd up.

Yeah I did and yes it will be getting well used in waters off Ventura. Still waiting for Marc to get back to me on the roller furler set up that was suppose to come with the boat and never showed up when it was delivered.

This does not look like the boat you dropped off a few weeks back. You should bring yous out and let Jesus get on it - well worth it.

DLW was a CREAM PUFF compared to this boat. I think the guy hit his fence driving out with this boat each time he went sailing.
Pretty awesome to see what an expert can do to these boats and bring them back to life.

The blue boat? I thought DLW was that white one that Seacats 2 sailed in the 09 Tybee.

Nope, DLW was a white boat. David Mosley owned her and we sailed her for our first Tybee 500 (the second running of the Tybee). David sold her some time after that and Krantz ended up with her and brokered a deal to a guy in TX. Haven't seen the gal since.

She took really good care of a couple of n00bs in that race. Our ground crew, however, didn't fare so well...I think they finally started talking again.

Ok, I have seen her on Canyon Lake in Texas. She looks fine. I'll try not to run into her next time they are on the water with us.

DLW was used in 2004 for the Original SEACATS boat and went to Texas after that. She was in good shape when she left here, and I would take her back in a skinny minute.

This is a tearjerker

What so you could look at it in your driveway?

Sorry Dave... it's been one of those days and you haven't posted in a while.
