Way cool! I would love to ride those dunes. Saw some like that between Arizone and Cal as I recall where there were about 100 bikers having a ball.
Most exciting time of my life was racing Motocross. Supercross on today a noon and 6PM

I used to live in Yuma right by those dunes and had a 250R Honda Fourtrax. We'd ride those dunes all the way into Mexico. Found a dead Mexican on one ride. Looked like he'd been there for a few months. Had a great picture with me sitting beside him but I think my ex wife threw it out. Some absolutely awesome riding there.

Alright, I'll bite. How'd you know it was a dead Mexican?

my wife saw a commercial yesterday... A guy was in a body cast at the hospital, and a kid hands him a phone and says "dude, you're up to 4 million hits"

hilarious

If he was dead, would he be a MexiCAN, or a MexiCAN't?...

Lee- I had 86' TRX250R before I had my 440 that's in the video. I miss that thing. If I were to build a quad purely for dune riding I think I'd find a CR500R for a donor engine and just start from scratch with an aftermarket chassis. The CR500's were tanks, but they were so much fun in the sand.

Well, I'm no doctor but I'm pretty sure he was dead. Besides no Americans would be in that neck of the woods on foot. His skin was pretty much gone or toasted black but he still had all his hair, which was black. Mostly by the way he was dressed...typical migrant worker attire, long sleeve shirt buttoned to the top. Ok, I admit, I was profiling! It did look like he fed a few coyotes for a while.

Someone say Honda CR500R????

[Linked Image]

Next to CR-250 this is the best bike I ever had. We dropped the gearbox from a 1982 CR480 in there, changed the sprockets ratios a little and had Pro-Circuit breath on the suspension. No modifications were needed for the engine, it was a handful.

I can remember racing at Hangtown, Hollister, and Glen Hellen and only using 2nd and 3rd gear. I don't remeber ever getting it into 4th and 1st would rip you arms out of the sockets.

My favorite bike was an Yamaha ISDT175. In Harescrambles I almost always got the hole shot with that little bike, beating all the 250s and 400s.
Great mudder as well.

I fell off my first Honda 50 at age 5
smashed my fingers on trees from yz & gt 80's by 12
Had street 750's and a DR 350 as an adult in both Europe (Navy) and NJ

Moved to Florida, and sold my bike after driving here for a few weeks... decided i would rather live than ride and die with all the horrible drivers here in the Tampa area (either blue hairs who shouldn't be on the road anymore, or young punks in their modified Hondas and Mazdas driving like idiots).

That's when i bought my first boat... a Hobie16

It's like I have a twin. I was a crazed cafe racer for years. I saw two really bad crashes within two weeks literally right in front of me. I sold my bike and got a Hobie 16. I never looked back.

Started with a 73 Yamaha RZ-350. Put the Kenny Roberts top end package on it, Bassani pipes, with Konis in the rear and the Currnut fork package on the front.

Needles to say six months later I am before the local magistrate for a few speeding tickets and was told to sell the bike if I wanted to keep my license. That's a wake up call for any 16 year old.

Sold that, bought a DKW 125 and rebuilt the engine in my 74 VW Bus which we punched out to a 2200 CC from an 1800 with a better carburetor. BIG DIFFERENCE when we dumped all the smog crap they were putting on theses things back then and tweaked it a little bit.

Get real bikes, not toys! As you get older you just need to aim for bigger toys.

I have one of those [Linked Image] for fun with dual purpose tires and one of those [Linked Image] for my commute.

The only downside is I can't tow the f16 from its parking space to the launching area with them smile

One of the sports guys here described driving in Miami:
A little old, blue haired lady, barely able to see over the steering wheel is going 40 in the left lane, and buzzing in and out of traffic is a guy with 400 horses under the hood and the last thing he drove was a burro.
