Nacra said last autumn:

"These are the changes to the Infusion MK2:

Nacra Sailing “Team Boards” = Faster + higher upwind performance, easier all over
New designed monolithic dagger board cases = Stiffer & Stronger like F20 carbon
Pro-grip deck lay out like F20 Carbon = Soft & comfortable + safe ( good grip)
Improved general Construction = even improved torsion stiffness
Added sail colour main + jib= Smoke/White/Blue
Updated race package = Cunningham jib, new line-pack, rudder& dagger board bags
Updated sail shape = quicker main/jib combination + spinnaker
Integrated upf*cker = to pull up port dagger board in racing
No further changes are made to the hulls = still unbeaten hull shape
The Infusion MK II is available from the 1st of January 2011.
"

So where is it? Pictures impressions ??

the message here is that the hull shape is still very competitive and by not changing the design Nacra avoid alianate mk1 owners and residual value and class issue's

mk1 can be retrofitted witho mk2 boards

Interesting am I the only one viewing that the daggerboards are not actually further back than before?

Leading edge of the boards is in the same place as before, but as the boards are smaller the Coe moves forward slightly.

Yeah. Those daggers are long.

I cannot really see the point for Nacra being this "silent" unless they are not yet sure on final design details unless I might be missing the point as usual...

Anyone tried the retrofit?

Cheers

That depends on how many pre-orders you have got. Sometimes publicity has to wait till they are met!

Macca posted somewhere that there will be retrofit kit that glues into the current trunk. I got the impression from that post that it would be a few months down the road. Sorry I can't remember where I saw that post.

If the boards are so long can you still raise the boards with a line?
I assume that the distance the boards have to be raised is more then the distance from the bottom of the case to the deck?

Check out the pics of the dagger retro kit here:
dagger retro kit http://www.nacra.ca/images/manuals/daggerboardcase%20insertion%20kit%20manual.pdf

But don't ask the price!
I have asked them to make a standard length dagger (same length as the existing one) for a lower cost because lets face it most of us are just club racing these things, not going to the worlds. If you are also interested in these lower cost, standard length daggers send me an email. dave@nacra.ca

It is all about the carbon, this drives the price. Last generation board and rudders (most brands) were glass/wood (supported by carbon) contructions. Now it is full carbon/high density foam, these developments drives the price up, seems like it is the route the class is taking

Pls let ut know the price. I guess the alternative is to go with M20 boards if you want to take the hazzle with fitting anything other than std Mk1 boards. I also remember a thread some year ago with some UK aftermarket daggers at what I recall fair prices (currency might have shifted since then).

Another observation is that retrofit only seems to be available for 2009 and 2010 platforms.

Going back to the original question behind this thread. How does Mk2 feel like on the water? Probably easier to stall but apart from that?

We all know order books are closing and right now I fully understand those (inclusive myself) jumping on the C2 train unless there is some useful info from Nacra, other than only "faster".

Price for the boards in europe is about the same as a wildcat daggerboard assuming it will be the same for US

the kit with all the mounting stuff is under 100 euro

I recently looked into after market boards for my Infusion from a UK composite company. I don't remember the name of them but they had a listing for boards for Infusion, Tiger, and Wildcat. The price was twice that of what I payed for the Nacra boards which appear to be pretty darn good quality. I just wish Nacra would have drilled the upf*cker hole because I don't want to take the drill bit to my pretty new boards.

Drill the hole oversized. Fill with chopped glass/epoxy. Then re-drill the smaller hole for the upf*cker line.

Mike,
I've tried that technique on my hollow HT rudders with only modest success. The mixture seems to sag away some. Just not thickened enough? Other tricks?

You can glue G10 rod in as well and then drill that. No sagging schmoo.

I put a 3mm dyneema into my starboard board. I just drilled a 3mm hole all the way through, then drilled it out a bit bigger on the far side for the knot to fit. put the line through the hole, tied a knot, covered it with epoxy stick, then gelcoat, can't even tell where it was and I've had no issues. I guess you could use regular epoxy but all your trying to do is seal the hole and I wanted to be able to remove it relatively easy incase I ever needed to access it.
