Apparently the footage got s spot on every major news network in the states last night including several cable news channels.

Anyone who says that this isn't good for sailing just doesn't get it.

It was on the cover of the biggest Dutch newspaper as well.

The UK newspaper The Daily Mail had some good coverage too with some pics I hadnt seen anywhere else:

Really surprised how tough these wings are, was expecting it to break.

I got a chance to watch some of the footage and WOW was it cranking. The tide probably made the water look a little worse for wear but those were sporty conditions.

This isn't the first time one of these has capsized...so it seems a little strange that it got some much coverage world wide this time. I guess it's about the location and getting in the domestic US news cycle that launched the story.

Precisely - and this is just a teaser.

Now imagine the coverage that a multi-million Dollar AC cat capsize will receive during the cup in S.Francisco... That is exactly what the organizers will be saying to potential sponsors!

A team could lend its boat to the sponsor's CEO + girlfriends and/or models, perhaps for a photo session, and it could capsize when one of the girls inocently takes the helm. Risks, accidents, screaming girls, lost bikinis, wet girls, scandal, thrashed boat - all great ingredients for marketing.

If I managed an AC team I'd hire a girl-only "delivery team" to welcome the crew on board before each race and to relieve them afterwards. In bikinis.
