ok, I've read the FAQ and I'm good except for this point: SCT027. What's the "0"?

The zero in front of the 27 is only a place holder. That is the sky cover, it says scattered clouds, at 2,700'.

The others are; CLR (clear), BKN (broken clouds, ie. some holes you can see through) OVR (over cast, solid layer) and the flight level at which the bottom of the clouds are is expressed in that 3 digit format, just remember the last one is hundreds of feet.

For the rest of you, that METAR is from Fort Meyers airport (KFMY), on the 15th of the month, at time (Grenich time, GMT) 1453(Z means Grenich), next is the wind, direction first, 300 degrees (magnetic, not true) at 09 knots. Visibility is next, 10 statute miles (SM) and then the cloud base, Scattered (SCT, less than 50% of sky) at Flight Level 027 (2,700'). Temp and dew point are next, in C, temp is 32C, dew point 23C, then the A is for Altimeter setting, which is measured in inches of mercurey pressure, that one is 29.93 inches of mercury, which is what number you would dial into your altimeter before you take off, and your altimiter should then read your feild elevation, above Mean Sea Level (MSL)

English is my second language, I don't have a first one, and my typing is worse than my spelling, that's why I took up flying...

:^)

BTW, I just came in from sailing, it's blowing good out there today Pete, come on over before the thunderstorms get here.

For how long? I go back to Dubai on the 23-27, one day off (28) back to Dubai 29-July 3, one day off (July 4) back to Dubai 5-9 July.

Then, finally, a week off, and in that week I have to take my youngest down to Key Largo for a week at some spring-board diving camp. I may bring my boat down and see if Barb will let me keep it at Founder's Park.

Yeah, that could work too, any ideas on names of places that have a beach? I know of the Islander, but that's about it.

We call that being a "Class 1 Batchelor". I used to tell the young hottie Flight Attendants, 25 years ago, when they were young and hot, I would invite them out for a beer or three, they would sometimes say, "Oh, are you single?"

And I would say, "No, but it's ok, we're separated...she's at home...and I'm here!"
