That is cool. I have designed and built my own boat so I know how much fun it is just to sail it.

While I was finishing the rig for my boat, I ran it with a laser rig. The mast step is very high torque. My first 2 maststeps failed. My 3rd was based on brute strenght and survived for a month. At winds above 15 kts it made very bad noises.

We looked at using a 10.5 meter sq wind surfing rig. My sailmaker thought the way to do it was to sew the shrouds and forstays to the sail sleeve. A simple test showed it would probably work. Then I was offered a broken A-Class mast and ....

I built a cat like that some years back. It lives in my back yard in bits, the windsurfer mast substituting for a an early spinnaker pole for my F14.

I used 50mm (2") dia scaffolding tube for my tramp frame and hiking rails and employed the end fittings to connect it all together. I put surfboard fin boxes in the decks and bolted fabricated channel brackets to those to support the tramp frame.
I intended to have the hulls articulate to accommodate the angle of heel. Steering came from the mast raking back against a big bungy as the sheet was tightened [no rudders].

The articulation concept was flawed but it sailed well in light breezes.

I probably should have continued with it's development but something else distracted me at the time.
As best I can remember there are no pics.

I have just received the go ahead from the missus to start my next project... . I have this obsession with easy to rig car toppable quick boats, so this is going to be a mono hull with racks and stabilizing foils.

Sounds like you need to build a Moth next.

Looking at your image I would considder the PT box section but would also bolt the section flat across each hull. If you want the rise for a dryer ride I would come up off that and move the risers closer to inside of hulls to create less drag when healing and wet. Good luck
