On June 15th through June 17th Rock Hall Yacht Club will again host on the scenic Chester River located on Maryland's Eastern Shore 3-days of racing.
Friday, June 15th starts off the racing w/ the "Down the River" Race ... this is a "Run What Ya Brung" race open to any "small" sailboat, that in past years has had sailboats ranging from Sunfish, Lasers, Comets, Windmills, Hobies, A-Cats, F16's to 20'-25' traditional Chesapeake Log Canoe(s). The race starts at Chestertown CC&YC, just south of Chestertown Md, and finishes at RHYC, Rock Hall Md, on Langford Creek. This is a fun and short "distance" style race as it proceeds down the Chester River's twists and turns ... and is perfect for "Junior" sailors to participate in. There is very little powerboat traffic on the river and we will have several powerboat "chaperoning" the fleet down river.
On Sat and Sun the racing continues at RHYC w/ "Bouy" racing on at least (2) circles. There will be at least (2) Catamaran classes: A-Cat and "Open". (If for example enough F16's or H16's pre-register we can "split" out more classes if requested ...) Camping at RHYC is allow (as usual), pool (as usual), dogs allowed (as usual), GOOD TIMES & CHEER (as usual).
This is a perfect event for any "Junior" sailor to practice for the upcoming Junior Olympic Festival/HCA-NA Jr NA Championship that follow (2) weeks later at Annapolis Yacht Club (AYC).
In addition, any "Hobie" Junior Team, that is registered to compete in the JO's/HCA-NA Jr NAC's at AYC, that wishes to leave their H16 at RHYC and return during the intervening time period to use the RHYC facility to train, may do so as "Quests of the Commodore" Mr Joe Skinner. Any H16's being charter/loaned for the JO/HCA-NA Jr NAC's may also be left at RHYC and arrangements will be made to tow/trailer them the short distance to Annapolis on July 5th.
