I have just got my self a Mark 4 A Class, And the clear coating has started to come away from the mast. Is the coating that's coming off the mast now just the resin they use when they are building the mast Or a coating over the top??
And what clear coating can i use on the mast, Can i just use 2 pack epoxy. Or a clear 2 part varnish.
I was going to lightly rub back the old clear coat,Without touching the carbon and re-coating over that.
Any advice would be helpful
Thanks
Richard

Richard,

From the description you gave, it sounds like it's a clear coat that's coming off the mast. It really shouldn't be any structural resin (unless fibers are coming off with it). You should be able to clear coat it with any decent marine coat after dealing with the loose stuff and getting a decent scratch coat.

Thanks Jake.
The mast itself looks fine in some spots looks like the clear is all the way off, But the carbon itself looks fine, Thanks Richard
