We just saw an America's Cup being raced on flying boats with wing sails. How much more proof do you need? Hydrofoils and wing sails used by the AC use custom 2-D foil sections developed by T. Speers and others for this application. Only thing that's the same is the software (XFOIL and wind tunnels for section design, FLUENT and OpenFoam, most likely for 3-D analysis, in conjunction with VPP packages by North and others). Your analogy is like saying a Boeing 777 uses the same ABS brake system found in my Toyota Corolla.

Posts: 932 Solomon's Island, MD | I want the EPIRB that when I hit the switch about 30 helicopters and two ships (with nekkid women and rum) show up in 10 minutes or less. Here's what happened when Davis flipped ours on during the 2002 Worrell 1000. Now I know why Brett pulled the eject handle in the 2010 Tybee!

And for you Sam, I mean, Psyco: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OnpkDWbeJs I'm leaving Sebring for Dubai in a few minutes, and I'll be looking for shadowing Malaysions then testing my Toyota 12 wheel Anti Skid on the 777 when I get there, about noon east coast time tomorrow. You boys have fun this weekend, see ya on Monday. Why is the wind always blowing nicest when I have to go to work??

The guy in your gif asked to sail with me , but he cried when I said Davis was my crew, so he brought us drinks instead.
