On April 3 the Macho Man will be run from Tampa's Davis Island to Dunedin, a distance of about 64 miles (crow over water).

I don't think any Hobie14 has ever tried the Macho Man. Dr. Ron finished the Macho on a Mystere 4.3 in 11 hours but he had a spinnaker. An unmet challenge for F-14 FrankenCats?

Maybe it's a job for Super-Bob and his H-14 Maxi !! Are you listening Bob? With the Macho being part of the new Endurance Series of distance races, the elapsed times will probably be measured carefully this year. That would allow Portsmouth corrections to be calculated and maybe the H-14 could win on corrected time! If an I-20 takes 6 hours then Bob's Maxi would have to finish in 8:19. In 2002 an H-21 needed 8:14. That Maxi would have to FLY to do it in 8:19. Better pack a lunch and dinner (and breakfast).

Candles would be helpful if you were sailing after dark. However, to keep them lit you must be on a dead downwind run with zero apparent wind. Tough to do but it can be done!
