I'm going to be spending the summer in Woods Hole. Are there any good places in the Woods Hole/Falmouth area to keep a boat rigged? What should I know about sailing in the area?
Robert, Don't listen to that scurvy dog Tad! The water warms up to about 70, and you have great island destinations, as well as the southern coast of the Cape to sail to! Sorry I don't know that part of the Cape as far as a place to keep the boat. I have aquaintances in the area, and could try to track them down if you don't get your answer here. I'd like to invite you to rendevous with Fleet 448 on our annual Island Hop, the High Holiday of Cat Sailing. I'll have to get back to you on the date, but I know the plan is to sail to Quicks Hole, and then up Vineyard sound to Tarpaulin Cove. These are on different privately owned islands in the Elizabeth Island chain. they are the only places the public is allowed to come ashore, and are really beautiful! Hope you can join us! Brian

Tad just wants me to keep my boat in NC so I can beat him in races .
Brian, that sounds like it would be fun. Let me know the details, and I'll see if I can fit it in with my schedule. Alas my primary reason for being up there is not to play but to work on research at WHOI.
Robert, Get Tad an internship and have him drag the 17 up here too!I'll get the date for the Island Hop. One of the aquaintances is a welder at the Institute. He used to crew for a good friend of mine on an H20, and later an I20. He might know about where to keep the boat.
Robert, The High Holiday of Cat Sailing,(Fleet 448's Annual Island Hop) is scheduled for August 14. The fleet departs from my home port, Gooseberry Island/Neck, Westport, MA. I think they were making MX Rays here, though I've yet to see one. The ads sure made them look like fun! Anyway the hope is if the winds and weather permit we will sail to Quick's Hole, and then to Tarpaulin Cove on the east coast of Naushon Island. I'll let you know what channel to monitor on a vhf, and hopefully we can rendevous! Brian PS: Pic is of Quick's Hole from M.I.T. web site.
Rob, The Buzzard Regatta is now an Island Hop/Distance Race. If you got the boat up here you could either attend in New Bedford, or look for us around Tarpaulin Cove Saturday 7/10/04.People will be sailing Sunday as well.
