Just found this picture of the bridge to Pensacola Beach. Looks to me like it is pretty fixable. Might be a while though before they get to it.

My thoughts and prayers have been with you guys down South these last few days.

Anybody know which place this is in the picture? It looks like the first floor is totally filled with sand but I could be wrong.

This is I10 over Escambia Bay in Pensacola. It looks like this will be closed for a while.

I think I recognize the 2 or 3 yr. old seawall on the Gulf side of San Souci on the right side of the photo but in the same picture I don't know the name of the new place that is shown devasted.

Regarding Key Sailing, I found this clue on the Penscola News Journal site this morning:
"The Quietwater Beach Boardwalk appeared to have sustained only minimal damage, although its pier lost all decking."

That Lateral Movement on the bridge is pretty wild, just shows how powerful water can be!!!

God when are people going to learn to build out of concrete and steel instead of sticks,, especially for condo buildings. I would NEVER buy a condo or townhouse that was build from wood.

Even tons of concrete didn't help the bridges.

In what was left of Ivan when it arrived in eastern GA and SC, we had a tornado spin very near our house at 11:30 last night. Fortunately for us it only made us and our close neighbors jump from bed and run for the hallways because it apparently never made it all the way to the ground. Although I've never experienced a tornado before, the sound was unmistakable as it not only shook our windows but our nerves too...and I live in a concrete house (it was the first thought that crept through my mind while I peered out a window like a moron). I always pondered why more people weren't caught sleeping by tornados in the middle of the night but now I know. Those things are farkin loud!

I can only imagine the difficulties ahead for our Panhandle friends and hope that they get through these hard times as easily as possible.

It was announced on the radio in FL that there was a 24 DAY contract on the I-10 bridge over Escambia Bay, so it should be fixed soon.
