Can anyone provide some tips on removing boom caps. I have drilled out the rivets with a 3/16th bit, but the cap with the gooseneck just won't budge.

try some wd40 to clean / lube all the crap and salt etc tha twill be in there. Leave for 10 minutes and try again.

If that does not work, get some hot water from a tap and pour over the OUTSIDE of the boom (this should cause the Al. to expand quicker then the stopper and thus make it easier.

Beat it out. Get a stout blade screw driver. Fit it into the boom's slot, catch an edge of the casting and wack the screw driver handle with a mallet. May have to try a few times around the casting. These usually fuse it pretty good with salt and corrosion.

Any advice on removing the fairlead from the rear cross bar? I am restoring an old 16 and removing all the hardware to paint. A number of the screws that hold the fairlead onto the cross bar are rusted. Can't tell what I need to do to get it off.

The swivel cleat mounted in the middle? or the eye on the back side?

swivel cleat. The screws are pretty rusted. I can't tell what is holding it to the rear cross bar and what I should drill out.

There are four screws in the plastic base to the swivel cleat. Three are sheet metal screws and one is a machine screw. The three sheet metal screws are the ones holding the base to the crossbar. (The three aft-most screws.)
