This is one good looking boat.

First thing that I noticed when seeing it in the flesh was how it doesn't appear a volumious as in the pics. Also the comparison to the FX-one is totally off. The Blade looks different, more elegant. So appears much more slender.

I was actually very impressed with it, now that I've seen it in the flesh. The laminate work is excellent. Very smooth and clean lay-up. Insides the hulls clean and tidy. The sides are impossible to flex. Mostly because of the large reinforcing rib that is inside the hull. And this rib really works extremely well. There is absolutely NO FLEXING of the side under pressure. The beams have been seated and so it is a tight fit. This must be good for stiffness.

Overall, this boat looks completely finished and is completely finished. The custom fittings or nice smooth and well manufactured. Attention has been spend on such things and it shows. This is really a boat fully fit for promotion, there is just nothing wrong with it. Everything is very pleasing to the eye and feels stirdy.

I really like the anti-slip treatment of the decks. Goog grip but still smooth enough to not wear down the wetsuits and elbows/knees. Really impressed by that.

Another great detail are the inspection hatches. The ones behind the front beam will in a little reces and the cover also covers the ring and screws that fix it to the deck. So the deck is just level there and it looks really clean.

All the gear and fittings came nicely wrapped with labels. Everything was very well packed. I love the idea of plastic bags with selfsetting foam. Of course you can destray any packing when driving a fork lift at full speed into it. But the hulls and gear were extremely well secured inside the boxes.

Truly, this is the design to conquer Europe with.

Matt, my highest appreciation of the workmanship. I really didn't expect any mediocre work but despite my raised expectations you really did succeed in impressing all of us. THAT is an extremely good sign.

If the boat handles anything like the reports suggest than I fully expect 3 more sales to Dutch sailors before this year is over. Probably several more. It is just that good !

Lets run with this.

Yes, mr. Robi won the first prize, there was indeed a Blade in those boxes. By the way this prize is that you may go 10 times for free up and down on the escalators of your local shoppingmall. And of course a few of those Heineken Beers I am refreshing myself with after connecting the beams. So drop along if you are in this neighbourhood.

It is the first European Blade so I expect it to become a collectors item. You remember what happened to the volkswagen of the new Pope ? I expect that the Blade of Sjon goes the same way in a few years :-)

As you see I discovered there was also some unknown white powder on top of the boxes. Perhaps from another type of dealer which used the same container. I will sell this powder to interested parties because I myself only drink coffee and local beers.

The Blade looks very nice, so i have a few questions.
Is Vectorworks the only manufacturer of the Blade?
Will there be a manufacturer in Europe in near future, what about Dynautic?
Is the Blade sold directly by Vectorworks or by local agents?

I have the same question. I thought Dynautic was building the Blades in Europe. Is it cheaper to import Blades from the U.S.? Has Dynautic not built a Blade yet at all?

Holger,

No, but she is the most advanced one. A smaller builder is in Asia and of course we have Dynautic in Europe.

Dynautic is in the Netherlands (= Europe) and is handling the Blade designs. Game plan is simple, Europe is the big market and so there will always be a Blade builder/agent there. This is crucial for future growth. More about this later.

Both. You can choose the route that you like best.

But now for some comments on Dynautic and Blade.

Nico (of Dynautic) went over to Florida to check out the Vectorworks Marine Blade F16's and was so impressed that he is trying to work out a sourcing deal with vectorworks. Meaning that Nico will source his hulls (platforms) from VectorWorks Marine and than finish off the designs (mast, fittings, sails, boards, etc) locally here in the Netherlands.

Nico is looking to bring over 5 platforms this summer. In discussions with Nico and interested persons we both feel that 3 of these boats will be sold to Dutch sailors immediately. We have build up lasting relations with these three parties and they are extremely serious about buying. I'm really not kidding here. There is also a 4th party and two Taipan F16's will hit the second hand market when these guys buy. So you can imagine that I'm really looking forward to these deals. Those second hand boats will be attractive to open up new area's with an inexpensive boat.

Nico cleared me to announce to anyone who is serious about these boats that the first 3 sold will go for an introduction price. He even told me how much that is and, by God, if if my unemployment in 2004 didn't slash my personal founds than I would have put my signature down for a vectorworks marine Blade F16 myself. That is after seeing the boat in the flesh a few days ago. Again, I'm not kidding here.

Contact him (Nico Wessels Boer) via info@dynautic.com

If you are seriously interested than the Blade F16 that is in Europe right now is available for seeing and when the weather allows also for a test ride (with the owner also on board)

More info can be had via me.

I hope this helps.

Wouter
