Hobie Fleet 153 ran fabulous regattas at this location at Cedar Key with 80 boats, cold kegs of beer on the beach and delicious fish dinners after dark, bar hopping after dark & hot dogs on Sunday before the trophies.
Now-- the Cedar Key Resurrection Regatta is coming soon, thanks to Murph and the old salts from Fleet 111 and all 3 of us from Fleet 153. We'll try to make it as good again.

Thank you, Murph! I've always wanted to go to Cedar Key, and it looks like Rick and I can do it this year as we regatta-hop our way back from Ohio to Key Largo. I hope Waves are welcome. We will have three Waves with us, and I'm sure we can get at least two more to come, so we should have a fleet.

Cedar Key sounds like a beautiful place to explore by water, so I hope lots of sailors come, even if they don't want to race.

Mary, Glad you and Rick can make it in October. Actually the smaller cats are
fun to sail in that area with all the small islands and shallow areas, so bring the Waves.
They had considerable flooding from the last Hurricane two weeks ago. Most of the
restaurants and hotels were closed but are reopening soon.
Let me know if you need any additional info.

We have a lot of options; there are 2 or 3 islands we could sail around, just depends on the
wind - all are within sight of Cedar Key. As you know, on Sundays, racers like to start and finish
early; pack up and have time to drive home.
Dave Carlson and the Gulf-Atlantic Yacht Club are actually running the races so they will have
some ideas.

Lets see Cedar Key race or Fantasy Fest in Key West. Not sure which will be more fun.

Hey Murph, You bringing the M6.0? Maybe we can get Jeff and a couple others and have a our own class.

Catman, I KNOW where you would have the most fun!!!
I will probably be running a chase boat, but I will tell my
partner to bring the 6.0. The Mystere may have an advantage
with the kick-up daggerboard, especially when you hit an oyster bar.

You might have to explain to the non-Florida folks that hitting an oyster bar is very different from hitting a tiki bar.

Both are easily handled on a Mystere, I might add.

Well, It's all in the timing - Hit an oyster bar, then hit the Tiki bar,
or hit the Tiki bar, then hit an oyster bar. They have a new
drink - 'Mud Slide'---

Probably do both. Like to put a reservation in for a spot to camp on at your place Murph.

Fishing is great there in October; I have some charts of the area you can use.
There is plenty of room for camping (tents or RVs) at my Brothers place about
4 miles from Cedar Key. The party/cookout will be there Sat night. His house
may be finished by then; there is deer, wild hogs, coyotes, fox on the property.

Hmm- East Coast of Florida license plate in Cedar Key with a power boat.... the locals have caught some East Coast Clam Nappers rustling on the clam flats in CK that are leased to local fishermen. Clam Nappers are as popular as cattle rustlers in West Texas. So be careful where you park the power boat. I heared tell some other clam rustlers never came back for their truck and trailer in the CK parking lot.... Big mystery! CK Clams No Ka Oi (Hawaiian for the absolute best)!

I know It's early, but is anyone going to be there early. Like Wednesday or Thursday? Like to get there early and have some cruising-exploring time.

I'm sure Rick and I will be there early, since we only have to drive from Pensacola after the Wave North Americans the previous weekend.

Of course, all this hinges on what the hurricanes are doing.

OK, Mike, how about doing the Cedar Key race and then sailing home to Dunedin? Seriously! It's 120 miles by car but only about 75 by boat (as the crow flies). With fall breezes from a favorable direction it could be just about right.

Mary,
This is the time of year when FLA. weather is perfect. The end of October. We normally have our first cold front come through at this time of year. It could be fairly cold.....like 60's at night and low 80's during the day.

Ok, I decided that I'll have more fun at Cedar Key.

Hey, we could have our own version of Fantasy Fest at Cedar Key -- costume contest? (But clothing required.)
