I can see Robi and Mary have a point, but then, so do you. Why not put up your site, using your chosen domain, but ensure that you have a nice, obvious link through to the 'international' site?
You could have a welcome and summary page, fixtures list and your blogs, but all the tech stuff, the news, the forums, class info and manufacturer listings would be on the main site.
I believe that Wayne Richards from Datchet, UK is working on something similar for the UK sailors.
Just my personal thoughts.

Posts: 1,121 Eastern NC, USA | The theoretical (not reality, yet) site map for the new F16 international site would be an International main section/home with with universal information (a lot of what is on the current F16 site). Each region, as defined on the current web site, would then have sub-sites with region specific information (NORs, results, Classified?, etc.) contained within.
I would like to see all the regions use the same template/similar template (maybe have their region colors flying???) for continutity purposes, but it could also be set up that you "link out of" the international site to each region site (again not my personal preference, but open for debate).
Pdwarren has installed Joomla! (open source CMS) on his hosting site and set up a few people with rights for template design and the beginnings of the content movement from the old site. I hope to have something to show you guys soon. Joomla! looks easy to use for content posting.

I like the open source things.
The Gallery software is growing on me. I still would like to be able to adjust the background colour etc, but in the functionality the gallery software is good.
More later.

Posts: 1,121 Eastern NC, USA | Regarding my previous post....I certainly do not want to zap anyone's energy for spreading the gospel of F16. Please continue your web site efforts, if you wish.
In the model I propose, the regional sites would have the same template layout as the international site - but we could replace banners, logos, etc. with regional photos, logos, etc. That way the entire site would have a high level of same look and feel, but you'd be able to customize the banners/links/etc., so regional information/sailors/events are marketed.
Maybe it'll make more sense when we have something to show you....

I'm sure that's possible. I need to spend a bit more time getting it properly integrated with Joomla. If anyone else wants to start uploading photos, then please drop me a PM and I'll give you an account. Paul | | |
