Press release from UllmanGZ

24-03-2006
SPINNAKER CLOTH CHANGE

We need to inform you that the silicone tape we used to glue our siliconed cloth spinnakers since the last 3-4 years, will not be any longer produced.
Because so our Dynalite glued spinnakers will soon not be anymore available on the market.
As you may know, "Nanotechnologies" have recently entered the sailing market and have introduced a new product (Holmenkol), deeply tested since last October with good results, consisting in a liquid to be spread on the spinnaker surface in order to have it become slippery.
The advantage of this solution /process is that you can use any non-siliconed cloth, nylon or polyester allowing the market a wider cloth choice.
Our suggestion is to go for Superkote75 for our spinnaker production (nylon non-siliconed, same mechanical properties as Dynalite75, just different finishing) which will need to be treated with nano-products afterwards in order to obtain the necessary slippery characteristics for retrievers.
Dynalite75 can still be used when required, but the spinnaker will need to be stitched, loosing the advantages of a glued spinnaker.

yeah, we use it on the Taipan and the Tornado and it make sit heaps easier to get the kite up and down. we also use it on the yachts and the difference is sets out of the hatch is really noticeable. also the kites dont take on any water so they are always light.

Are we really talking about "nano" technology?
