Finally I have transfered all the fittings from the broken mast to the new masttube, and today I did my first sailing ever with the Taipan. Only sailed Hobie 16 before...

The wind was strong, 8-10 m/s (metric system is how we do it in Sweden), so it was pretty intense!
Sail-report: Logged 17,3 knots before I ended up in the sail.
Damage report: did a small hole in the hull from my harness-hook during the righting.

Probably I will do all the newbie mistakes in the book the coming days <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Guys,

When it is windy, pull everything tight. F16's like that. Bend that mast. Pull mainsheet and downhaul on at the same time and make that mainsail very flat. Derotate the mast till the rotation arm points at the rudderboard. The boat will calm down and you'll speed up to higher speeds.

When pulling youself on board. Place one hand on the mainbeam, the other on the hull then swim and pull yourself quickly upwinds make a quarter turn with your hip so the side of your hip is resting on the deck. Now place your foot on the Dolpingstriker pin and push the rest of your body sideways over the deck keeping the hook clear of the decks. The turn you back so you are facing the mast with you legs and feet hanging of the hull on the inside. Then move to to the trampoline any way you want. If you do this in one smooth manouvre then getting in is alot easier and you won't be making all kinds of hook marks on your hulls!

Good luck
