Gday

Firstly, Mary I apologise, <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> ,I would cry like a baby, It wouldn't be one of those, just hold my head and a couple of tears, it would be the ultimate ugly cry.

Richard, please don't say that <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />. This is my pride and joy your talking about. Nobody will be dropping masts or scratching my boat, except maybe me <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I will be starting my first race 5 minutes after everyone else (not that I'll be changing anything there <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />)

Phill, got the cone and socket fittings today from AHPC, and no plate for the Main Beam! You don't happen to know what size it is? 50mm x 50mm? I've got a fair bit of stainless here, I'll just make one up. They are, from memory, mounted on at a diamond shape angle, if you know what I mean.

Regards

Matt,
It's probably more like 65x65mm.
That's from memory.
Thought I had one lying around, had a quick look but couldn't find it.
The current systen is a plate 80mm wide starting around 33mm behind the centre of the cones and wrapping around the front of the beam with a 19x19 sq hollow section around 25 long welded to the front on its side to take a spinnaker pole.
Pole slips over this and a pin goes through it to prenet it from twisting as the spinnaker is pulled in and out of the mid pole hoop.
Actually the latest system is a little more complicated but what I described will work.

Regards,
Phill

Hi Richard/Phill

I realise I'm only fooling myself if I think it won't get scratched, but it would be nice to keep it straight for a couple of hours, so I can take photos, and remember what it was once like. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

It should look alright though, got a very lightly used Ashby Pentax Main the other day, got hold of a cat rig mast section (that you can't buy anymore) Assembling Main Beam in lounge as we speak. By the time I've painted the hulls (maybe undercoated this weekend) I should just be able to put it all together.

What are you sailing Richard?

Thanks Phill, your estimate sounds better than mine.

Regards

Remember, this is an object, regardless of what you think about it.

And they're not "scratches", but rather "badges of courage"

(and if I were to put any runs in the paint, I would be so dirty on myself, I would cry like a girl).

I beg your pardon? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

He meant to say, cry in a soulful and really heartfelt sob (like normal guys can't do). Inner cleansing, gut wrenching tear jerker, you know the kind that makes other people cringe cause they don't know what happened... <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Of course I don't do that, but I've watched my wife do it and I know the symptoms/actions. (Thank GOD she dosen't read this forum!!!) Then she gets lots of flowers!

Damn, am I off topic???? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

Took my new to me out yesterday, as described in earlier post, looked beautiful had the tiller bars set just above the deck the flow of the rudders pulled the starboard tiller bar down on the deck, Couldnt do anything about it just sailed so had my badges of courage less than an hour on the water.
Dont cry just enjoy the boat a hundred hours of sanding and painting was nothing compared to single handling when it was gusting at least 15 <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
