Its looking like Ben and myself are the only mossie sailors in NSW almost not worth trying to start an assoc. up here.
Im going to a few clubs this w/e to try and find some more, lets just hope there out.

Will,

I know that Lake Jindabyne has at least 2 Mozzies that are actively racing. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> It's just a bit far from Sydney. There is also 1 much further up the coast that had a couple of entries on the forum. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Regards,

Peter

I think you will find that yourself and Ben are the only 2 active Mossies in Sydney. You may find a boat here and there in rural NSW though.

As per phone conversation, I have a mast and a set of plans for you. Is the other mast for Ben??????

yeah I think your talking about Ben We've already been out on the water together testing both boats.

Im sending an E mail to the secretary of lake jindabyne to try and get in contact with them. If I can get at least 5 or 6 to start off with we might be able to grow or at least have a state title to start off with, but I need information and contact details to get in contact with them.

thanks Peter

Will,

I just checked back through the forum threads and found the other NSW Mozzie; It's Joey from Ballina.

I think he was trying to sell his mossie last time I heard. Same problem as every one else up here no one to race against. When I start to race im going to be racing mainly against F18's Taipans and Nacra 14sq.
The closest Ive got to compete with is the nacra which is 1/2 a point slower on yardstick and is 14 foot, how embarrasing.
Im thinking once I learn to sail this mossie properly a kite's going to have to go on.

You should contact the two guys selling the mozzies in the trading post and ask them to pass on your details to the lucky new owners...
Keep an eye out for more boats selling as well.
Good luck,, <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Will,

Once you get the skinnaker up you'll really get some close attention. Everyone else might be a bit embarrased by their own performance particularly in light to medium wind strength.

Peter

yeah Ive noticed Tim's been doing really well with his cat. Had a look at the kcc archives and in one regatta Tim did really well against every class of boat. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I would like to put faces to names this weekend with you and Ben but I work shift work and only have every second weekend off. I'll be there the following weekend weather permitting and also the weekend after which is the Bullets Regatta. I also need to try out my new trap harness as the Cheap Burke one I got with the boat isn't the best and as other people may verify a rope sling would be more comfortable.. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Hi Will,
dunno about NSW, but does Canberra count? I have just completed a hull repaint [just in time for the Canberra Winter], and now with the weather warming up will take it for its first run this weekend on Lake Barely Tolerable, [otherwise known as Lake Burly Griffin.

Should be interesting, a bit of a step up from my Windrush. Just hope the crew [daughter] enjoys it.

Guys,

There is a strong chance that I will be in NSW for a large part of next year....doing course.....and looking at bringing boat with me, planning on sailing somewhere so as to give me a day away from the books.

Where do you sail....and my boat should be rigged for spinnaker by the time I get there.

Also happy to help in whatever way I can to get things up and running.

Where will you be staying?
This will probably effect your choice of club.
There is the Palm Beach Club on the Northern Beaches or the Port Kembla Sailing Club on the Southern Coast of the City.

Ben did not sell his Mozzie as its the equivilant of him chopping off his left arm
Mozzie power is still strong and will prove to be a force to be reckoned with!! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

A kite will fix that

Cat / sloop rigged, it is a perfect platform to begin on. When you gain more knowledge, then a spinnaker can be added which will satisfy the most experienced skipper.

What other cat can you buy in OZ that will offer this for so few $$$$$. Very affordable spinnaker racing.

I would not worry about someone saying the Mossie is not fast enough, it is not the boat for him. It is more about comparing apples with apples. All the faster 16ft cats I know also cost $5000 to $10,000 more. As for the Mossie being slow have a talk to some of the Taipan sailers at the Wild Cat Regatta and you will get a different story.
When you get the NSW Mossie association up and running again I for one will be happy to come sail with you.
If it is bang for your buck the Mossie does stack up.

building a new mossie with a kite so Hopefully I give all these h16,taipans,nacras a run for their money. So I think this one should have more than enough punch.

News on the NSW Association Development..

For a person who has never built a website, Will has put together NSW Mossie Association website and has done a great job in such a short period.
He has put together a good base and with more development expected the website will be a good source of information and should help facilitate the begginings of the NSW Association.

I recommend people bombard him with news and photos to help build more content.

Here is the Domain http://www.nswmossie.com/

Happy surfing.. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Well done,

What your doing for the Mossie is a great service and spreading the gosple. There's a couple of paper tiger sailers here in Qld I'm trying to convert to the mossie, only time will tell.
All the best and I'll be keeping your web page as one of my Favourites.
