Carl,
I dont have the exact layup, but I was planning on keeping track of the lamination while I ground back the broken area to try and approximate the layup. My layup is going to be differient than the original in a couple of key areas - mine is room temp and the original was autoclaved.

Since I'm not using an autoclave my repair wont be the same density or have the same high temp cure, so the most I can hope for it to get close in terms of thickness or stiffness.

Both of these masts are junk unless I do something with them, so its low risk.

I am all for repairing what you have, as you said not much to loose. Besides that is partly what keeps me in business. I was just trying to post some basic info about lay-ups. So may folks doing repairs just build up layer upon layer of chopped material and what ever they can buy and figure it will be as good as original. Besides if you paint it who will see it. Every repair is different, but it is good to know the basics of how this stuff works.

Good Luck with yours,

Carl
