Wow!

That is a serious workshop! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

When I think back to my boatbuilding efforts we were lucky to be able to get one hull under cover, and couldn't even think about keeping the work area heated!

I'm looking forward to following progress. Thanks for the link.

Thanks, so far we are having really fun. The next big thing except from building will probably be a visit to Marströms’s factory in Sweden.
And of course the BIG event I Holland in August.

How long are your building sessions, and how often? Would be fun to know the timeline to your building.

Two evenings/week and about three hours/evening, with about 6 students/evening.
Guess it is going about twice as fast as if you were building alone.
And dont forget, we are doing two cats at the same time <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

can we have a link from our F16 website to this student building project. This is just mighty cool and we should scream it out to the world.

Smart, yes, as long as one does not make a mistake.

We will be steaming the first two hulls on Saturday. Then it will be sailing on the ice Sunday and Monday, so hopefully Tuesday there will be new pics.

First steaming a DISASTER due to misunderstanding of buildinginstruktions (glassing of the outside to week).
So no new pics. How much we are set back is hard to say at the moment.

It looks like you were pouring boiling water on the glass/epoxy?
Cool of you to post the images anyway. We all make mistakes.. Perhaps you can save the panels by removing the glass with a belt sander and re-gluing them? Wont be perfect, but..

You have access to some really nice things, like the kitchen!

The mistake was done long before pouring on the water. We tried to follow the written instructions and not our common sense and that was a big mistake.
I sometimes miss proper drawings. This mistake could have been avoided by a small cross section drawing of the junction between the panels.

You might already have thought of this but when it comes to steaming the ply you may want to hire a couple of industrial wallpaper stripping steamers. I have never had the chance to distress ply using this method but I have seen the amount of steam produced from good wallpaper steamers and I positive they would work really well.
Good luck.
