Posts: 393 Syracuse,N.Y | We are fine. It's been pretty typical snow fall for me. The major storms are North of Oneida Lake. We are on the southeast end of the lake just south of the snow belt. The big lake(Ontario)was warm this year from an early mild winter. This causes big lake effect this time of year. The people in Oswego have been pounded for over a week. I did go clean off a couple of feet from the motorhome roof today. The boats are good.

Posts: 393 Syracuse,N.Y | The wind shifted and we no longer have typical snow fall. We have been hit hard this week with lake effect. Spent the morning removing over 3 feet of snow from the roof.

Posts: 393 Syracuse,N.Y | Shoveling roofs is very common around here. After about three feet of snow with 20% water content you are well into the safety factor for the roof. There have been some barn collapses and two Walmarts have shutdown for fear of collapse My house is a ranch and I can almost step off the roof onto a snow pile. Not to dangerous.

Posts: 393 Syracuse,N.Y | Thanks Matt, Diane and I will be heading out to the CNY Boat Show later. I hear we have a Hobie rep on hand again this year.
The snow stopped yesterday and things are back to normal for the most part.

Ski off the roof

Damn! I'm glad I'm not going to the boat show and staying at your place this year like I did last, Pat. I know I'd get put to work . . . | | | Re: Fleet 204 and Oswego county

Posts: 12,310 South Carolina | *laughs* You never want to land on flat ground, but on a steep slope. There is not enough snow for it in the video <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I know, I know...but most of the successful "skiing off a roof" movies were a bit of a let down. I grew up just outside Cleveland, OH just on the edge of the "snow belt". I know what's it's like when the winds blow off the lake in just the right direction - while I've certainly snow-blown my share of driveways, I admit that I've never had to climb up on a roof and push off the snow! That's an amazing picture.
