During the sailing season the boat (Hobie Tiger) is stored in the garage on the trailer. My garage is 22 ft wide and 31 ft deep. Deep enough to keep the mast on the trailer and wide enough to park a car along side. The winter months are different though. The boat is completely disassembled and stored in the basement. I've removed the sailbox and wheels/axle from the trailer. I then tilted the trailer sideways against the wall and tied it in place. Now I have room to park all vehicles inside and not scrape windshields when it snows
It was close getting the mast in the garage. It almost had to go through a window into the basement. My wife was actually ok with having it hanging from the family room ceiling, after I told her a replacement was almost as much as I had paid for the boat itself.
I am definitely not enjoying the scraping and super frozen car every morning, but didn't want to take the chance with the boat in the elements. We have about a foot of snow on the ground right now. I do have winter storage lined up for next year already.

In the carport, under tarp--much to my son's dissatisfaction, who would rather park his car there for some reason. Hey, you gotta have priorities...

Stiletto currently on trailer at club not too many places to keep 36'(mast) x 14' wide, usually in water ready to go at any moment. H16 in yard on trailer, not too worried about it, 25 years old and still in 1 piece.

Acat goes in the garage (the only reason I havent torn this building down yet is that it houses my boat.)
HT gets unbolted and goes in the heated basement, the hulls fit perfectly on a set of plastic Home Depot folding saw horses. One hull goes on the folding shelf part of the saw horse, the other on top, fits perfect, like it was made for them.
Masts hang in cellar.
Trailor stays in the yard.

In Loosianna, dey be called "indoor swimmin' pools."
HA, HA! U funni, but probably correct. Especially below I-10 here in the south. There is one house here that has a "basement", but the house is 5' above the ground and closed in below. I would just call that a crawl space... to each his own though.
Basements here would almost always have a sump pump running, my place near the lake has an elevation of 5' ASL. Of course I built the house at 15' ASL just in case!
We don't have basements nor do we have snow... we'll do without the basements and you can keep the snow, Brrrrrr.
