I'm going to make some wings/racks to my N6.0. I've read quite a bit about the pros and cons in these forums, but I want to try it out myself.

Has anyone else done this before? If so some details of the size, thickness and grade of aluminium tubing would be great.

At the moment I am planning to base my wings on the 'Hobie Sport' style, http://www.hobiecat.com/media/pdf/euro_wings.pdf

However I am planning to have mine about 2 1/2 ft outboard with a 12 inch rise.

I've got a good plug design to insert the tubes in the beams, but would appreciate anyone else's ideas.

I'm going to start welding in the next couple of weeks.

Cheers,

Dan

The problem I see with the EU wing is the back tube configuration.

It is curved in slightly and assume capped but still potentially an injury causing metal end tube that you could impact if your feet are taken out in waves ,go over off the back then slam back into the hull and tube end .

I would add a rounded extended piece to the stern .

this discussion may help too
