Tampa Bay Catamaran Sailors holds regular events off Dunedin Causeway. Great group of sailors and fun events. Also, some cat sailing off Davis Island near downtown Tampa. Check out www.tampabaycatsailors.com for upcoming events.
If your havin girl problems i feel bad for you son I got 99 problems but my beautiful wife ain't one
Haven't seen too many sailors on the lakes... I think Parker has some contamination issues, Hollingsworth is pretty shallow (although they did dredge it) and full of jet skis, Mirror is too small, Scott is private (no access)
I think most travel to regattas, but you can always practice local!
There are a couple of nice lakes to sail in Lake County. Lake Harris is good and I think the othe lake is Lake Eustis(spelling?). Very nice area for inland sailing. Watch out for the alligators.
Oh, you meant LAKE Parker! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
While Lakeland may have some local sailing, Dunedin and Gulfport will let you mix it up with lots of good sailors. Since either place is about a hour from Lakeland, plan a campout with the Dunedin fleet to maximize your sailing day. They regularly camp on the islands, no special day...every day, it seems.
When are you coming? We're coming into our best season. The water went up 4 degrees F this week and will continue up every day. Winter is over. Winds at 10, air and bay water mid 70s. Spring rules in central FL.

These chain of lakes, albeit nice, are 90 minutes from Lakeland-- and even further from Tampa/St. Pete.
I know nothing of area. Any sugestions? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

They are setting up Flying me to Dothan, AL for a interview. Will know more next week. I will have 3 boats to move. Yea I will probably sail with the Tampa Group on a regular basis and tour the circuit. Have some friends in Fla to look up PTP and Pete Pollard, and Bob Curry is in For Walton. Since I will be close I will try to take Rick's Seminar when I get vacation time. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
If you have to relocate to that area, you must find a house near Dunedin Causeway. That means Northern Pinellas county. When I was last stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa, we lived in Dunedin(boat restrictions at homes) and I didn't mind driving over an hour to work one way. The benefit was we lived 5 minutes from the causeway! There really isn't any inland lake sailing east of Tampa anymore. Living in Tampa will yield a 45-90 minute drive to the causeway. Once there, you must check in with the TampaBay Catsailors!!!
Hope this helps!

It is a 56 mile drive to Lakeland from Clearwater. I think I will live in Lakeland and drive to Clearwater when I want to sail. I just can't see driving a 2:30 hours a day to work <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Although it's called Lakeland, you won't see much sailboat racing on all those lakes, just bass boats and jetskis. The best lake sailing club is up in Eustis, about an hour from Lakeland, but they are mostly a mono dinghy club. They do hold the Wildcat regatta there in October and the (just past) President's day regatta, and they wellcome cats but just don't get too many to show except for those two regattas.
You can sail on most of those lakes in Lakeland but you will be alone most of the time. The racing is out of Clearwater, Dundedin, Tampa, Eustis, Cocoa Beach and Daytona on the other side. Also, Sarasota has a great dinghy club that hosts some cat races but like Eustis, they are mostly a mono club. Most of the cat racers trailer to the different races.
You can always come on down to Sebring and sail in Lake Jackson, right on rt. 27. It's about an hour drive from Lakeland.
Welcome to the Sunshine state! If you hurry you can make the Macho Man race out of Tampa Bay! <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
You might want to check out the local smack talk board at www.1design.net for the local central Florida racing calandar info. Prepare to be smacked!

Bob:
Think I am going to move to Tampa <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> and split the difference. 2 1/2 hour drive a day is just to much <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> Sail maybe 2 days a week, work 5-7 depending on shut down. Hope to see you on circuit if I do. <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Doug, shop long and hard, prices peaked last year and are coming down now, some homes have been on the market over 10 months, so don't jump on the first "good deal" you see until you have looked at quite a few.

Thanks for all the help. Should find out this week if they are going to fly me to Dothan Al for the interview. If I get it I think I will move into a Apt in Tampa till things get lined out. Like being in a big town where the action is. Timbo, won't be able to get a house right of the bat, but will when I can
If I get it, does anyone on the Tampa area have a place I can put to cats and a sunfish till I find a storage unit?
