Hi,

Any idea's on how to identify the age of our Hobie 16? The sail colours are shown on the left pic and our hulls are numbered s01936.

We have a feeling our boat is older than we are!

If still legible, you might be able to find out the age of your boat from the serial numbers.
This might help :

s01936 ? That is an odd number. It does not fit our system. Is that all that is written on the transoms? Bahrain? This may be a French made boat or another offshore builder. The sails look to be custom or perhaps from an event or rental. I do not recognize the color combination as being Hobie USA built.

Here is a link to the serial number info currently on our website: Hobie Serial Number FAQ

It looks like it has at least one window for a tell tail in the main. Which would suggest that it should be sail # 9xxxx or higher - may be '88 and up. The main also seem not to have reef lines... suggsting that it should not be super old. IIRC in the late 80's there was a change to the reefability of the main... check if your main halyard has two stops in it.
