Been prepping for the US Nationals & Pre-Olympic Trials pretty much all year:

1. Dieting & Exercising...dropped ~25 lbs (so far)
2. Attended as many local 2006 regattas/distance events as possible (CatFight Iⅈ SCYA MidWinters; Wine & Roses; Tri-point Ocean Series; Frenchie's Rum Run)
3. Attended Rolex OCR & North Americans in Miami back in January.
4. Purchased a carbon mast...will receive it 2 days before 1st race
5. New main on order to be delivered by Charlie O. in San Diego
6. Two crews primed & ready...the experienced one for the Nats; the 140 lbs complete rookie for the Pre-Trials
7. Did a one day session with a pro-coach last weekend...hope we can apply some of what we learned.

Our goal is to work our way out of the "kiddie-pool" of the other non-pro teams...there are at least 2 or 3 teams within striking distance.

Events run 10/9-10/15 out of San Diego YC.
Race Info
Come on by to check out the fleet and see us all in action if in the neighborhood!

Mike.

Cool! Planning ahead, I like it. Especially the weight loss part. I loss 15 lbs. for the Chesapeake 100 and it helped, I think. Being lucky didn't hurt either. I've never felt luckier since deciding to take on a cause, even though I’m missing 1/3 of a racing season recovering from a shoulder dislocation (*). When I've needed a big lift it came. When I need the puff to ease it did, save one time. One night, my 6 year old son was doing his first race and I suggested that he stop banging on Gertie’s deck and starts rubbing her gentle. Big lift tight up to the mark inches behind the leader, saving two tacks in fairly light air.

Pick a cause, any cause and you will be luckier. I've chosen the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I've heard Freedom for Fidos (Dogs), or something like that (Keith pls help here), needs help as well.

(*) glad I was wearing my Kokatat pfd and very glad I had Todd Bergett
