Question, "fire and foreget rotation" ? ? ? How does that work ??
Sounded like a good idea at the time....But I've not sailed the boat enough to work out if it helps.
I have 2 systems for controlling the mast rotation.
Course tune: rope goes from the side decks, then under the tramp to a hole and then up, thru a block on the end of the spanner and then back down and to the other side; this is the "course" tune that allows me to dump rotation at the windward mark as the spanner will rotate to the max.
You can see the cleat and turning bock on this pic:
Fine tune: There is then a second system for fine tune (upwind) where I have a pair of cleats on the mast spanner and a second (blue multi coloured) rope that leads to the shrouds.
You can see it clearly here and you cal also see then end of the red rope coming up thru the tramponline
So get around the windward mark and let the mast swing free by uncleating the red rope on the side.
At the bottom mark, you pull the red rope and you go back to the same setting you had at the windward mark.
you can then move mast rotation at by pulling the blue rope from the wire.
