I'd agree with anyone who suggested you replace it with a mid-pole set up, even though that means getting your patches moved on the 'chute.
You don't necessarily need to add a patch if you make the bag long enough <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
