Is it "the FAD" we see go upwind? <img src="http://www.catsailor.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Nice trapeezing, but look at the mainsheet and mast. Looks like mainsheet is very tight, and that's probably where his windward ability lies.
The Bobster never sails in any single mode. He is about as constant as the wind is. He changes up that mainsheet as the wind changes, and it is easier said than done(to do it correctly). (and that's not the only thing he changes)
My point is that the quote statement above might get some guy to thinking............
" That's it! Next time I'll just sheet tight and point right with that FAD guy and kick his butt!!" Ahh, .........I doubt it. Simply sheeting tight ain't a quick fix.
I think his upwind sailing ability just might have something to do with the 30 years or so that he has been sailing catamarans with and against some of the best sailors anywhere.
If you really want to go up against the Master Uni Fad guy at his best, try it after a strong cold front has gone through say in early spring when the wind is shifting all over the place. The wind was relatively constant at HWJuana's Saturday.
