Will,

I sail a heavy weight Mozzie and in strong conditions I think that I'm up there with the best. Others may think otherwise.

The big difference occurs in the light winds where the extra mass tends to slow me down and the leeward just tends to dig into the water rather than riding over the top like the newer Mozzies. Then again maybe I'm just crap in light conditions.

You probably have to take into account the old Mozzie construction meeting the measurement regulations versus the new Mozzies that can get the most buoyancy from their hulls by going to the maximum limits of measurement tolerances.

The biggest difference I've seen in performance with the old Mozzie is the addition of a new rig and sail. The problem is then learning how to get the most out of the power plant relative to the old sack that I called my sail.

Regards,

Peter
