Remember for polyester: Dissolved wax keeps the sticky away from finish gel-coat. Bonding polyester resin has no wax. Methyl ethyl ketone (or 2-butanone, a cousin of acetone but with one more carbon atom) is the solvent plus a little benzoyl peroxide makes the catalyst.
