Seems to me that a successful new US 20 footer needs a 3 or 4 High profile distance races that they can compete in to get critical mass.
The idea that you could develop a fleet of OD or Formula 20s seems far fetched these days.
The Marstrom 20 has never caught on as high performance 20 footer for buoys racing. The platform seems to be ride of choice if you want to win some of the big Euro distance races. (Texel Carnac)
The Steeplechase is probably the biggest Open Class distance race in the USA. The Worrell 1000 used to be that race.
