I got a refurbished Foretrex 101 off ebay for $65 shipped last may. They are no longer available having been replaced by the Fortrex 301; the best price I could find currently is here:

My refurbished unit has held up fine to buoy racing and some distance racing (Surfside Beach, 3 days at Tradewinds, 3 days at Spring Fever, some big boat racing). I'm not saying its better than a new unit, nor that it won't die on Tybee. But it has the same warranty, is $50 cheaper than a new unit (the 301 has no new features other than USB instead of serial PC interface), and you can practically buy 2 for the price of 1, so WHEN one dies you have a backup. Just my 2 cents.
