To clean your boat and wax it the only true one step and it's got a pretty self explantory name:

If you wax over that you're just waxing the dirt into your gelcoat pores. Same goes with Finesse It, plus of Finesse It is it's not actually a wax so it won't bead, if you're actually worried about the beading slowing you down, personally I'm just trying to keep my boat clean.
