Due to inclement weather in the morning and extremely light air in the afternoon, the organizers of the Trident Series have postponed the Pensacola Multihull Challenge (doesn't that sound like it needs a telethon??) to August 7th and 8th.

"Wait!" you might say. "How do you postpone a one day event to two days?" Well, I'll tell ya. The Key Sailing Mayor's Cup was already rescheduled to the 7th, and Kirk generously agreed to share the weekend with the Trident Series - details are yet to be worked out but it sounded like, for the price you would have paid for one distance race, you also get a day of bouy racing. Trophies will be awarded in three classes for the Pensacola Multihull Challenge, which will be a distance race on either Saturday or Sunday, and for the Trident Series which wraps up with that event. In addition, trophies will be awarded for the Mayor's Cup buoy racing which will be sailed on whichever day the distance race isn't... get it? Krik's working on overnight parking for boats on the beach, and the Trident folks'll still have the big cookout.

I heard they were putting together a new flyer for release sometime during the week. The folks who didn't make the drive out to the beach yesterday have been granted a stay - so you still have a shot at the Trident AND the free sails from Sabre.

Ahh, the vagaries of summer weather! Regardless, two I-20s, a Nacra F-18, an I-17R, a new Nacra 570 and the mythical CFR 20 all went for a pleasure drift after the thunderstorms cleared out, sadly taking the breeze with them. Congrats to Mark Smith and Bubba Barberi for "winning," by being the absolutely farthest from land when the wind completely died. Honorable mention to Kirk Newkirk for the downwind flip in about 5 knots of breeze. P-push it real good...

See you in St. Augustine! Woohoo, Fleet 111!
