Wow, I would have a hard time climbing in 50ish degree water each time I had to tack. Good thing my wimpy butt lives in Florida. Water temps barely drop below 60 in the middle of February. At that time of the year, my son and I look like the little brother in "A Christmas Story".
"I can't put my arms down!!!"
A first sergeant from the Mass. Air National Guard came down to sail with us last winter and he got a pretty good kick out of me wearing a full wetsuit with boots and gloves. I told him "That water is cold!" and he shrugged his shoulders and told me it felt like another July afternoon in Boston. They were expecting 6" of snow that afternoon in Boston... we sailed in 70 degree air temps. Good sail... good wind... we capsized during a bungled roll tack (H16). My shivering like a chihuahua was entertaining for all to see.
