Here in Western New York along Lake Erie, all of our boats have been put away; All the J's and monohulls are out of the water and in storage, with only the most hardy still keeping their boats in the river slips. They have to work fast here to pull the docks out before it gets too cold to want to work in the water.
We're into other outside activities and yes, we'll probably start tinkering with our boats in January between ski days. A lot of us did hull glass work to our boats before we put them away because we can't trust the April weather to be cooperative.
If it means anything, I'm still getting on the CatSailor site because I miss being on the water. But, it's probably good because too much of a good thing can make one lazy and unappreciative. Besides, I'm too young to want to give up on improving my skiing skills!
We had our first snowfall in Ellicottville, a small ski town about sixty miles southwest of Buffalo.
