Dan, are you the guy who came ashore at Belmont Shore's Claremont beach when we had a fun event known as Catapalooza last year? There was a guy and his father who had just taken delivery of a Nacra F18.

Gary: The boat that came in at Catapalooza was Steve Myrter and his dad. I was with Eileen on the water on the Tiger but did not want to get all kinds of sand in the boat. We launch from inside the bay at ABYC. Although, I was at the beach before that to see if there was anything going on that I had to know about.

Hi Dan,
Do you feel that the bows up sailing style is faster? Did you try sailing it with regular f18 style weight distribution? It looks like they are going for a semi-planing hull shape..

Dave: No generally speaking I do not think that “bows out the water” is faster, on my boat (Tiger). Pete designed his boat to carry weight a little further back and it does seem to work with this boat (Infusion). Took me about 2½ minutes to get used to it, but it was comfortable enough. As far as getting the boat to plane, the feel of the boat is that it does seem to get up out of the water a bit with speed on the downwind run. Pete did not strictly design it as a planer, but there was some thought put into the concept.

Dan
