Bob makes great points - reads like a coach's manual. Both of my last pitches were the result of the crew not being aft with the skipper as we turned downwind in over 20 knots and choppy conditions. Had I not been so anxious to get the 'chute up, we might not have gone over. In big air, I think Bob's steps are correct - make the rounding, control the turn down from aft while easing rotation, then set the 'chute.
